  • Position Summary

    This role is responsible for creating and modifying technical documentation for the IT department and will be involved with research and development, deployment, and sustainment of technical, process, and procedural documentation. The Technical Writer will consult with subject matter experts to document project configurations and operational procedures.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

    • Work closely with Developers, Scrum Masters, QA, and Product Owners to identify and complete technical documentation (build and maintain these internal relationships).
    • Collaborate with internal users and developers to produce quality documentation.
    • Translate business and technical information into written or graphical form.
    • Coordinate and provide quality draft and final documents for all documentation deliverables.
    • Draft original technical text as appropriate.
    • Document procedures, standards, system architecture, and process flows for an IT audience.

    Minimum Qualifications (These are the requirements that all applicants MUST HAVE to be considered for this position)

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.
    • 3 years of experience in a technical communications role editing and authoring end-user documentation.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented, and able to effectively work with groups of people and on tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to work on a variety of projects ranging in both size and scope.
    • Proven problem-solving skills and process-implementation skills.
    • Results-driven with acute attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Skilled in the use of Microsoft office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications or related field.
    • 5 years of experience in a technical communications role editing and authoring end-user documentation.
    • Experience working with and supporting Agile development teams.
    • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Office, Confluence, SharePoint, Visio, and SnagIt or equivalent software.
    • Knowledge of Agile processes and methodologies.
    • Experience with authoring in mark-up languages like Wiki or HTML.
    • Hands-on Confluence wiki experience.
    • Experience creating original documentation from a knowledge transfer and/or supporting documentation from the Subject Matter Expert.
